As Maine educators we have enjoyed for more than a decade the benefits and challenges of the Department of Education's foresighted program of integrating digital technology in our middle and high schools. The Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI) has supplied state-of-the-art hardware, software, technical support, professional development, and pedogogical leadership  that have helped move teaching and learning forward in the new century. This year marks the start of the fourth phase of the project and with it the first opportunity for local districts to choose from among several proposals for deployment. Our district has chosen the highest rated of the options, which supplies 4th generation iPads for students and MacBook Air laptops and iPad Minis for teachers. These devices represent the future of learning and productivity, part of the path to success for our students.
